Eastern Imports: citrus

Citrus originated in the tropical and subtropical Asia. The citron was probably the first citrus known in Europe, probably the army of Alexander the Great introduced into the Mediterranean Sea basin, and quickly spread its cultivation. In ancient Rome it was used primarily as medicinal, and from the second century order food, Pliny records it in his Naturalis Historiæ .
orange
The word derived ultimately narang Sanskrit, derived in turn from the Tamil nari, "fragrance", and transmitted by the Arabs and Persians. The Persian orange, grown widely in southern Europe after its introduction in Italy in the eleventh century, was bitter. The sweet orange was brought from India in the fifteenth century by Portuguese traders, quickly replaced the bitter, and now is the variety most commonly grown.

The lemon was unknown to the Greeks and Romans, being first mentioned in the book on agriculture Nabathae to the third or fourth century. Its culture was not developed in the West until after the Arab conquest of Spain, then spread throughout the coast Mediterranean.

A Madrid in Central Asia Coins

In America there are over thirty cities called Madrid. In Asia there is only one, but it is the oldest of all. The curious story is exactly six hundred years ago, during the stay of the first European diplomatic embassy in Asia, in the fabled city of Samarkand . There the Almighty Tamerlane asked one day the leader of the embassy, \u200b\u200bRuy González de Clavijo , where he was, and replied that this came from a small town called Madrid. As a symbol of friendship, the great Turkish-Mongol emir send building on the outskirts of the imperial capital, a stock with the same name as the birthplace of the English ambassador. Today the old town of Madrid is a neighborhood north of the city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

3.5 style keyboard shortcuts for your favorite sites

By Percy Cabello

now have a quick way to get to your favorite sites. ShortcutKey2URL is a Firefox extension developed by onozaty, which lets you define a key to access a site. Although not a direct keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + Q must press or other customizable shortcut before you type the desired key or keys.

ShortcutKey2URL dialog

For greater flexibility, SK2URL can open the preferred site in a new tab, reusing the current one, or switch to a tab open on the same page.

Yet strangely, it adds an icon in the address bar, which I find unnecessary.

While the functionality of this extension may be replicated in some way, using the key words for the markers, their ability to do so without reviewing your list of bookmarks can be useful for some users.

is ShortcutKey2URL available at Mozilla Add-ons.
