The next version of Firefox to 3.5

The next version of Firefox, codenamed Shiretoko and is currently under development, will be labeled as 3.5 instead of 3.1 as had been originally planned. According

today's meeting notes on Firefox , jumping version looks better reflect the amount of changes since Firefox 3.0, the latest major version of last summer. These changes include tabbed browsing, significant improvements for compatibility with Web standards, an improved JavaScript engine, and several new features in privacy, including a new privacy mode that allows users to clean all your browsing activity after your session.

The next beta, the third will be kept as 3.1, while all changes are made in various Mozilla development tools.

The code for this Beta 3 is now frozen, and the packets are being produced. The publication is estimated for next week after testing the quality team.

also worth noting that the beta 3 not the last, as was originally thought, fourth beta will follow in the near future development roadmap, with a great opportunity to include many more news as well as troubleshoot about 100 bugs that have been identified.

These small new features and a number of specific developments, they may be in time for Firefox 3.5, including the search tab through the impressive bar, some tweaks to the theme for Windows, a page about: me showing user profile based on its history, the ability to clear the history for precise periods of time, and several other features.

Updated: Mike Beltzner, a Firefox coordinators, clarified that despite what you may read in the notes of the meeting, the decision to change the numbering is not yet final.
