why Asians have slanted eyes? Genes Asian

The correct word is Mongolian flange and it is a fold of skin that extends into the upper eyelid covering the retreat of the lacrimal caruncle and extending down to join the facial skin.

According to a theory of American anthropologists of the 50's, the origin of this skin formation could be due to an adaptive need during the first great glaciation to protect the eyes of extra UV radiation, the wind and low temperatures that devastated the steppes of Central Asia 18 million years ago. However, several Chinese scientists argue that skin formation is a consequence that a large number of Asians from a branch of hominid different from ours. This theory is based on the discovery in 1921 of Homo erectus pekinensis , remains to consider confirm that when Homo erectus migrated from Africa to Asia, it survived and gave rise to the Mongoloid race. The vast majority of international anthropologists reject this idea and believe that when Homo erectus migrated from Africa to Asia, this was extinguished and only African Homo erectus survived and evolved into what today we all are and we know as Homo Sapiens.

certainly a special time and had to be curious when the first European came face to face with a person with Mongolian flange. There is a very rigorous data but we think that probably occurred around 220 BC C. This theory is based on a passage from the Greco-Bactrian kingdom which refer to their empire extended to the country of the Seres, a place that researchers placed to the northwest of modern China.

We must go back to the sixteenth century to find the first extensive and detailed description of the physiognomy of the eastern population. It would be the friar and mathematician cosmographer Martin de Rada, who during an expedition English who first entered the Chinese territory on behalf of the English monarchy, he would write several relationships that would be of great importance to know and disseminate Chinese culture as no European had ever done before, even allowing certify that the Cathay of Marco Polo and China were the same country.

Like Herpes In My Sinus

of East European Imports

is claimed that 80,000 years ago initiated a human population migrated from eastern Africa to the African continent and then eventually out of Africa, creating different branches or haplogroups.

In human genetics, the haplogroups most commonly studied are Y-chromosome haplogroups (Y-DNA) haplogroups and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA), which can be used to define genetic populations.

studying the genetic markers present in each population group can be made, some descendants of others, and finally to find the ancestors that gave rise to the human population in the case of mtDNA analysis reaches the so-called Mitochondrial Eve "and in the case of the Y chromosome analysis, the"-Y chromosome Adam. "

is interesting to observe some theories that determine the Asian origins of the two most common haplogroups in Europe, the group R1a and R1b, R1a

is a Y-chromosome haplogroup, subclade of haplogroup R, which is located in a region from Eastern Europe to India, presenting two peaks in each of the extremes in this area: one in Eastern Europe, where densities are more than 50% among the Sorbs, Poles and Ukrainians, and another peak in the Pamir region, which lies between the boundaries of Central Asia with South Asia populations such as Kashmiri Pandits (72%) and Tajikistan ishkashimis (68%). Frequencies are also significant in other areas of Central Asia, reaching Siberia and in Scandinavia, where some carriers, possibly Vikings, spread to Britain. It is believed that the dispersal of this haplogroup is associated with the expansion of Indo-European languages \u200b\u200b(which are spoken by almost half the world population), in particular the expansion of Slavic and Indo-Iranian languages.

The exact point of origin of R1a pattern today is still under debate, but according to the theory of geneticist Stephen Oppenheimer of Oxford University, sets the origin of this haplogroup in southern Asia about 36,000 years , where then would have spread. It is based on the diversity of R1a in Pakistan, northern India and eastern Iran.

Haplogroup R1b is most common among people in Western Europe, especially in the areas closer to the Atlantic Ocean, mainly in Welsh and Basque 89% 88%. Then in the Irish 81%, Northern Portuguese 81%, Catalan 79%, Scottish 77% English 75% Dutch 70%, other 70% English, Belgian, Portuguese 63.0% and 60% south. Found less frequently in Italy (mainland Italy): 40%, 39% Germans, Czechs 35.6%, Sicilians: 24.5%, 25.9% Norwegian, Swedish 20%., Sardinian and Croats 19%: 15.7%. It is also common among people in America due to expansions Europe from the fifteenth century.

At first it was thought that R1b originated in Western Europe where we find the highest frequencies, but now some variants of R1b in the east, makes some geneticists postulate an origin in Central Asia or the Middle East and gives an age of 18500 years.

The origin of the rugs is uncertain but some historians suggest that the Turkestan in Central Asia was the cradle of this tissue between the IV and II a. C. Later people who emigrate from this territory would extend this type of textiles to the West, to Persia, the Causasus and Anatolia, the East: China and later the South: to India.

After the period of domination by the Arab Caliphate, a Turkish tribe, the Seljuks, conquered Persia. Your domain (1038 - 1194) was of great importance in the history of Persian carpets with the introduction of Turkish knot. Another significant moment came with the Safavid dynasty. Shah Abbas I the Great, send building workshops for the Persian territory where skilled designers and craftsmen set to work to create splendid specimens.

In Spain, the carpets are made by the Arabs in the tenth century The Crusades made Turkish carpets in Europe where they were primarily hung on walls as tapestries or used on tables. Only after the opening of trade routes in the seventeenth century came the Persian carpets. Its use in Western households as a cover to soil did not become popular until the eighteenth century.

Of the thousand and one nights, ratatouille machego

As explained in the book-cooking Ziryab in the 822 arrived at Al-Andalus fleeing an Iraqi court of Damascus called Ziryab . At first I had to teach the art of Andalusian music and play oriental instruments, but his strong personality and elegance of Cordoba and transformed life, among other duties, is credited with modernizing the kitchen of the caliphate.

This excellent cook was responsible for a new Arabic-Andalusian cuisine. Introduced dishes such as meatballs (al-bunduga) or pickled (iskabay), and apparently unveiled in Spain recipe for a dish that was served at the wedding of Princess Al-Buran with the Abbasid Caliph Al-Ma ' mun, son of Haroun al-Rashid, Caliph of Thousand and One Nights . This dish created for the occasion, which was called al-burmayya, in honor of the princess bride, came to our days with the alboronía name and it was made with a fry in olive oil, eggplant, zucchini, onion and quince. With the discovery of America changed the quince tomatoes and peppers, giving birth to the popular ratatouille.

alboronía Many say that is the mater of all tracks: the manchego, others, such as Madrid, the Bilbao, the tumbet Majorcan Catalan xanfaina or the fry of Aragon.

Melodies of the East: The

The overtone singing, also known as throat singing, is a kind of vocal technique that enables a person to produce several notes simultaneously. The singer manipulates the resonance, creates a constant flow of air that travels from the lungs, passing through vocal cords and ends on the lips to produce a melody. This ancient form of singing is very popular in Central Asia and Siberia.

The best known form of overtone singing comes from Tuva, a small republic autonomy within the Russian Federation. The popularity of singing in this area seems to have arisen as a result of geographic location. The open landscape of Tuva can carry sound from a great distance and creating a spiritual identity with nature.

Other areas where overtone singing is popular in Altair , Khakassia, in the Chukchi Peninsula in the western part of Mongolia and the region of
Karakalpakstan in Uzbekistan.

Exports to East: From the Latin alphabet

Over the past 500 years, the Latin alphabet has spread around the world. It has come to America Australia, Africa and parts of Asia. Vietnam, under French rule, adopted the Latin alphabet for writing Vietnamese, who had used Chinese characters before. The Latin alphabet is also used in many Austronesian languages, including Tagalog and other languages \u200b\u200bof the Philippines, the official Malaysian and Indonesian, which replaced the previous Arabic alphabets Brāhmī . In 1928, as part of the reforms of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, Turkey adopted the Latin alphabet for Turkish, replacing the Arabic alphabet. Most speakers of Turkic languages \u200b\u200bof the former USSR , including Tatars, Bashkirs , Azeris, Kazakhs, the Kyrgyz , etc. used the Uniform Turkic Alphabet in the thirties. In the forty all those alphabets were replaced by the Cyrillic . After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, many of the newly independent Turkic republics, adopted the Latin alphabet, replacing Cyrillic. Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan have adopted the Latin alphabet for Azeri language, Uzbek and Turkmen, respectively. In the seventies, the People's Republic of China developed an official transliteration of Mandarin Chinese the Latin alphabet, called p inyin , although the predominant use of Chinese characters.

As a curious comment on the letter cedilla (Ç and ç ) originated in ancient Castilian and still used today by the Catalan is also used by the Turkish language.

Can You Reinfect Yourself With The Same Virus

the Paella Pilaf

One of the first literary references to Pilaf can be found in the history of Alexander the Great to describe the hospitality received in the region of Bactrian (an Eastern Province Iran). The "pilaf" is often considered one of the oldest preparations of rice, with its roots in Persia or Turkey. Thus I would say that Pilaf could be considered a distant ancestor of the paella.

The Pilaf has been adopted and modified by various cultures. Thus, in various countries are given different names: in Azeri, Uzbek and Russian plov tells ; Persian Polow polo or ; in Bosnian pilav , in Serbian or pilav pilaff ; pulav in Armenian, in Romanian: pilaf, Greek: Πιλάφι.

Even if Alexander the Great who first unveiled the rice on the European continent, were the Muslims who practiced it in Spain after the gradual conquest of their territories. The mouths of the Guadiana and Guadalquivir, and the waterlogged swamps Albufera in Valencia, were the places chosen by the Arabs to germinate the first grain of rice in Spain. Then the English took over the rice fields of the Arabs and, through their own occupations and took him to southern France and northern Italy.

The paella comes in rural areas of Valencia, between the XV and XVI, the need of farmers and herders of easy to transport food and cooked with ingredients that came to hand or just to have. Thus, in its origin, the ingredients in the paella was birds, rabbits field affordable fresh vegetables, rice, saffron and olive oil, which is mixed with water and cooked over low heat, with a fire firings made with orange industry, which gave it a flavor and aroma.

Season Greetings Clip Art China

Imports from the East: the role Embassy to Tamerlane

is believed that paper was invented in China around 200 BC, and there are certainly examples of paper discovered along a wooden tablets containing that date. The first papers are silk and linen, but of poor quality writing, and therefore were mainly used for wrapping.

China in the ninth century used the bamboo fiber, in anticipation of the wood pulp used by paper manufacturers in Europe, as in the eighteenth century. For the century X, already used the watermark, the use of paper as money, and printing.

With an invasion of Chinese territory, papermaking spread to the west via Samarkand. Chinese paper makers were forced to reveal the secret of the art of making paper in exchange for freedom or their lives. Production is set to Samarkand in 751, using the abundant local flax and hemp to produce a soft, fibrous paper appearance.

In 795, a second factory began operations in Baghdad, using Chinese paper manufacturers. From there, a perfect art spread to northern Africa. The Arabs were the ones who introduced several innovations, including standard sizes and colors.

not spent more than a thousand years, when Spain was conquered by the Moors, and the production of paper into Europe. Arabs wasted no time in setting up local workshops for the production of paper. The first workshop was founded in Córdoba in 1036, followed by another in 1144 in the town of Xativa (Xativa) in the east coast of the Iberian Peninsula. One of the earliest examples of paper made in Spain can be found at the Monastery of Santo Domingo de Silos, near Burgos, including manuscripts of the tenth century, most of the pages made of vellum, the paper were made with long fibers linen and starch contained a proportion similar to that of classical Arab role.

Good Waxing In Bangkok

web applications and speed are priorities for the forthcoming Firefox (Namoroka)

By Percy Cabello

the tradition of using names of national parks code names for the release of Firefox, Mozilla has chosen Namoroka , a park in Madagascar, to name the development cycle that began recently, when Mozilla decided to separate the current Firefox 3.5 (Shiretoko), and began to development of its next version in the trunk (Minefield).

Firefox is assigned the next numbered 3.6 (and binaries are already labeled that way), but not very safe to remain as final, especially when you consider the amount of improvements and features that are listed in draft plans for the future of Namoroka [en] , posted by Mike Beltzner, director of Firefox product.

As in previous works, plans to cycle start prioritizing the goals and characteristics.

First: Performance
  • : obtain an improvement in your browser and start creating new tabs (reduced by at least 50 ms), and improve overall response time due to the addition of animated transitions for actions such as creating tab, move, add bookmarks, etc.. Chrome (and Mac OS X before) has shown that transitions can make a difference in the feel of how fast it feels a browser, and something that was considered in time for Firefox 3.5. Notably Mozilla is planning to implement this feature to XUL, at platform level, so will benefit not only Firefox, but all XUL-based applications (Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, Flock, Songbird, etc).
  • A very requested feature: the activations themes and extensions without restarting is something that is being considered for this version, at least partially. The draft mentions it briefly as "light items" and "light extensions, which would mean they would not have any add chrome or platform components (XPCOM).
  • Best UI for uploading . It would be a feature welcome as the old method of clicking and browsing and does not go. Dragdropupload is a Firefox extension that lets you do this by dragging and dropping files, and automatically adds more fields attachments in Gmail
  • Merge common preferences for specific sites within the site button.
  • An option to make web applications, desktop applications , which means incorporating Prism Mozilla Labs on Firefox, an idea long available as an extension for Firefox. Far superior to the web application deployment desktop Chrome. You can get it in Mozilla Add-ons .

Making a desktop web app with Prism

  • Using Aero Glass, for users of Windows Vista and 7 have finally translucent toolbars. Support for Aero Peek (in the case of Firefox, the ability to view tabs as thumbnails on the taskbar Windows 7) is mentioned, but not prioritized yet. Despite this, after having used the beta of Windows 7 by a couple of weeks, do not think it is very necessary.

Firefox limited Aero Peek support only shows windows but no tab thumbnails

Then other priorities, minor, we may note:
  • Session Management, or the ability to save a set of tabs and their state, so you can open the same way at another time.
  • Add some file management permits the download manager (move, copy and delete)
  • Taskfox , a bill introduced a couple of weeks ago that seeks to offer some of the Ubiquity command to perform some common tasks in Firefox code.
  • A site for a new tab better and more helpful.
  • A page about: I , which will serve to offer some basic statistics about your browsing habits, based on your history. This was also considered to Firefox 3.5.
  • Identity management is again being meant for inclusion. No details yet about how it will be implemented, but CardSpace and OpenID are on the list of features of Firefox 3 for some time.
  • In Mac OS X, include the native spelling. In the same vein, support for Keychain (global administrator password), and AppleScript (macro language), will also be added, but still do not know how. Road users have been enjoying these features long time, so it would be very difficult to move a few lines of code. Mozilla is

estimating a development cycle of 10 months, so we would expect that Namoroka reaches its final version by May 2010.

Opening hours: Getpersonas.com. A place to customize your Firefox

By Percy Cabello

GetPersonas.com

People, the great extension for Firefox made by Mozilla Labs, which lets you change the look of your browser with a few clicks, or less, has its own website Getpersonas.com with the launch of an official Mozilla repository, with all the people available.

With People, simply click on the fox icon in the status bar and browse through the collection available to people released by Mozilla. As in previous versions, you still have the option to define your own person, choosing the images for the header and footer, and text colors for top and bottom bars.

Here's a video demonstration with the participation of many mozilleros:

People Getting Started with Mozilla Labs by in Vimeo.

The site also allows you to develop your own person: just register, you accept the terms of service (which basically guarantees that Mozilla has the rights to redistribute your creation, and requires that you have the rights to the content that you upload), tell you if you allow them to make a derivative work, raise a couple of images (2500 x 200 and 2500 x 100 for the header and footer respectively) set the text colors, and you're ready.

Although People has been around a long time, it was not until now that Mozilla has taken a serious step towards allowing users to take advantage of it, offering a gallery and an easy way to create and share.

How To Make A Metallic Dustpan

Find tabs in Firefox

By Percy Cabello

Open a link in a new tab is a very common task in current browsers, that allows us to have several sites open for a couple of minutes or seconds to check something. Unless you forget where the tab was just opened and read that page does not go unnoticed.

trick with a simple interface customization in Firefox, this becomes a thing of the past. In the picture below it, can you guess which of the tabs remain unread?

unread tabs

Yes, with the title in italics. To use this little trick, first find the file userChrome.css located Chrome folder inside your profile. If you do not see, copy the file userChrome.css -example to the same location y renombralo. Luego añade esta línea:

#content tab:not([selected]) {font-style: italic !important; }

Luego reinicia Firefox, y te será muy difícil perder nuevamente una pestaña. Ten en cuenta que, por alguna razón, mover las pestañas alrededor de una sin leer hace que esta vuelva a su fuente normal, por más que no hayas pinchado en ella.

Eastern melodies: Sevara Nazarkhan

Sevara Nazarkhan is a young singer, musician and composer from Uzbekistan. In 2003 stunned the European music market with their interpretations of traditional Uzbek music on his album "Yol Bolsin. " The album contains songs from the XVI and XVII. These works are not "rescued" from the past, as they are part of the Uzbek contemporary popular music, and also the daily lives of many Uzbeks, young and old alike. Many of the lyrics of love songs refer to long separations, and just listen to the album to feel part of a caravan, be a traveler or merchant that for months he cuts the ancient Silk Road.

Foxkeh Firefox entertainment system, straight from the 80

By Percy Cabello

If you've ever played Nintendo, or have never been lucky FireNES, a Firefox extension developed by the Argentine FireNES.com.ar site, will fill you with fun and nostalgia, thanks to video games of the 80 delivered directly to your favorite browser.

firenes1

FireNES offers a very simple interface to vNES, based NES emulator in Java, which is automatically downloaded from the web. A sidebar shows a list of almost all NES games available on the web, a list of the most popular, and a list of your favorites for quick access.

whole experience takes place in a snap: the Java applet loads very fast on all games I tested. Although some of them do not work, you can play Super Mario Bros., Zelda, Double Dragon, Castlevannia and others, in their original format.

may not be legal to use FireNES, depending on the country where you live. Nevertheless, it is a great way to try before you buy some titles on your Wii version.

Last week a hacker Italian, Guido Landi , discovered the details of a zero-day exploit , the security flaw may allow execution of code using an XML file handling. At the same time in the contest Pwn2Own security, was issued another ruling by XSL files.

is why the Mozilla Foundation to consider this failure as critical and urgent, was quick to issue a patch , which simply is a change within a line of code.

Firefox 3.0.8 fixes a few security problems , but not stability, within the browser. That's why if you have not updated, go to item "Check for Updates ..." within Help menu .

Can I Get A Canker Sore From Too Many Sweets

Taskfox bring ubiquity to Firefox

By Percy Cabello Mozilla

Taskfox announced a new project that aims to provide some of Ubiquity commands in future versions of Firefox.

As you probably know, Ubiquity is a powerful extension developed by Mozilla Labs, which provides a command line interface to connect content (keywords, images, text, addresses, dates, etc..) Of a web page to another , making it easier to perform tasks common as mail a selection to a friend, add an event to an online calendar, check the weather report, or do a search, entering the appropriate command for Ubiquity, and optionally an operator as search terms or an e-mail .

Ubiquity

This extension is proving to be quite popular, with about 200 thousand daily users today, according to numbers provided by the post Blair McBride [en] Mozilla Lab

Blair's post also shows some important considerations to keep in mind that I summarize below:
While
  1. Ubiquity is not for everyone (it is designed for advanced web users, with good English daily users of extensions), Taskfox is planned for any Firefox user.
  2. For security reasons, do not include the option to subscribe to commands, the integration of new commands will be done through a service upgrade, with performance improvements.
  3. as ubiquity, is extensible, so supplementation should have an API to access Taskfox opportunities. I guess users will be able to add your own command, but I'm not sure the Ubiquity command editor will be included.
  4. be traced, both in the integrated services, such as command lines.
  5. will be distributed with far fewer commands to Ubiquity.

There are three proposals to merge the CLI (Command Line Interface), with the Firefox UI, thanks to Alex Faaborg [en] :

My favorite, use the address bar, making the button go display a menu where users can choose what to do with what they have entered (to go to a URL, search using a search engine installed, find a location, add to the calendar, check the weather report, etc.)..

taskfox1

Users have the option of entering the command name if you are easier, and as in Ubiquity, a preview of results are displayed in a menu.
